Bancroft House was built in 1895 by John Chandler Bancroft. Designed in a Shingle/Arts & Crafts/Cottage style, the five-story Bancroft House reflects John Bancroft's interest in oriental art, with interior detail including several panels with Japanese prints and the landscaped grounds including a Chinese garden. Interior detail also includes a decorative wood staircase, paneled walls and artistically designed wood ceilings. Bancroft House was divided into eleven apartments in the 1950's.
